Pinawa: A Porter with Heart

Named after our brewer Mark’s hometown in Canada, Pinawa Porter is quietly confident and full of character. For Abby, it’s everything she loves about a great porter — dark, smooth, and perfectly balanced for easy sipping.

Pinawa Porter: A Hometown Legend

Every beer has a story, and Pinawa Porter is no exception. Named after the Canadian town of Pinawa, Manitoba — where our legendary brewer Mark grew up — this one comes straight from the heart. And let’s be real: Pinawa Porter just rolls off the tongue too nicely not to use.

It’s dark. It’s smooth. It’s approachable. And, just like the town, it’s full of character.

Why Porter?

For Abby, porters hit that sweet spot.

“This style is always great because I feel like it can be a little more approachable compared to a stout. Porters live in that middle ground — they’re dark like a stout, but usually a bit lighter and softer. Where a stout might lean into big roasted coffee or a thick, creamy body, a porter keeps things more mellow, more drinkable, but still rich with chocolate, roast, and dark malt flavour. It’s the kind of beer that quietly impresses.”

What You’ll Taste

Pinawa Porter pours a deep brown, nearly black, with ruby highlights if you catch it in the right light. A gentle, creamy head caps the glass.

On the nose, you’ll pick up coffee, dark chocolate, and cocoa powder, layered with bready biscuit malt and just the faintest touch of dried fruit — raisin, date — adding background sweetness and depth.

The first sip delivers smooth dark chocolate and mellow roasted malt. The bitterness stays balanced and rounded, making it an easy sipper that never feels too full-on.

The hop bill brings together Centennial, Chinook, and Willamette — a classic trio delivering subtle pine, spice, and earthiness. They’re not here to dominate, but to tie everything together with a clean, polished finish.

Texture & Body

Medium-bodied and silky, thanks to a dose of oats in the malt bill. It’s got enough weight to feel satisfying, but not so heavy you can’t have more than one. That balance makes Pinawa Porter both rich and sessionable — a beer you can settle into.

The Result?

Pinawa Porter is a dark, smooth standout that’s full of character — a proper hometown hero. At 5.0% ABV, it’s approachable yet complex, the kind of beer that wins you over with quiet confidence.

Whether you’re a long-time dark beer drinker or just curious to dip your toe in, this is one you’ll want to savour.
