Back Story
Boxer Brewing Co. has been a long time in the making. It’s the kind of dream that brews slowly but surely. Founded by Jon Heslop, the man behind Queensland’s highly acclaimed Witches Falls Winery, Boxer is the product of passion, persistence, and a deep love for the craft. Jon’s journey began with wine, but the idea of a brewery was always bubbling away in the background. It was inspired by his travels through the U.S., a long-standing obsession with great craft beer, and a soft spot for American-style sports bars.
The name comes from another lifelong love: Boxer dogs. Jon’s first dog, Humphrey, started it all, and today Winnie and Wilbur carry on the tradition. When the time finally came to build the kind of brewery Jon had always envisioned—one where quality beer and good company meet over a game on the big screen—Boxer Brewing was born.
The taproom is a laid-back sports bar nestled on Tamborine Mountain, pouring bold, drinkable brews made with serious attention to detail. From juicy NEIPAs to clean, crisp lagers, everything is brewed with top-tier gear, pristine mountain water, and zero shortcuts. And thanks to Jon’s daughter Abby, a seriously talented brewer in her own right, the craft beers don’t just meet the dream. They exceed it.
