Curveball NEIPA: A Flavour Bomb with a Twist
Some beers are brewed to play it safe. Curveball NEIPA isn’t one of them. This juicy, hazy number was designed by Head Brewer Abby with one goal in mind: make it pop.
“I’ve always loved the American–New Zealand hop combo, and I knew I wanted to push it even further here,” Abby says. “There’s just something unreal when you bring those two regions together. US hops bring brightness and punch, while NZ hops deliver tropical intensity — and sometimes a little wildness in the best way.”
The Hops That Make the Magic
Curveball’s hop bill is loaded with favourites plus a newcomer:
- Nectaron: big tropical energy — mango, pineapple, stone fruit.
- Riwaka: zesty citrus that cuts through the sweetness.
- Citra: bold orange and lime, keeping that citrus edge sharp.
- Superdelic: a first for Boxer Brewing, adding a berry-candy twist — think red Starburst or fruit punch — that takes the beer somewhere new.
“It’s juicy and tropical, but that Superdelic just gives it this curveball (pun intended),” Abby says. “It’s a little surprising, super fun, and makes you want another sip.”
The Malt & Mouthfeel
Behind the hops is a malt bill designed for balance and body. Oats bring that pillowy, silky mouthfeel, while a touch of honey malt adds soft sweetness and rounds everything out without ever becoming cloying. The result? A golden-orange haze that looks like breakfast juice and drinks smooth, rich, and ridiculously moreish.
What You’ll Taste
From the first sip, Curveball delivers a burst of tropical fruit, citrus, and berry candy. It’s creamy and soft, with layers that unfold as you go — bright zest, juicy mango, subtle honeyed malt, and a lush finish that lingers. At 6.9%, it’s dangerously drinkable.
